New Zealand's Prime Minister has congratulated Barack Obama on his victory in the United States presidential elections.
Mr Obama won a second term after defeating Republican challenger Mitt Romney in elections held on Tuesday (local time).
John Key says he will be sending Mr Obama a letter of congratulations on Thursday and also relay them in person when the leaders meet at the East Asian Summit in Cambodia later in November.
Mr Key says he has enjoyed working with Mr Obama during his first term and welcomes the opportunity to continue the strategic partnership over the coming years.
