Malaise seen by Peters

New Zealand First leader Winston Peters says there's a malaise among New Zealanders at the moment and he does not believe tough economic conditions globally are to blame.

He told Morning Report it's fashionable to blame the global economic crisis, but economies with which the country trades are doing relatively well.

Mr Peters said people feel they are in nowhere land and are wondering when it's going to get better.

But he doubted that matters will improve while the New Zealand dollar remains so high, decimating export businesses and stalling growth in provincial areas.
