Dame Jenny Shipley dodges questions on Mainzeal

Former prime minister Dame Jenny Shipley has dodged questions about the collapse of Mainzeal during a hearing at Parliament.

About 200 people were made redundant when the constuction company went into receivership in February this year.

Dame Jenny, who was a director of Mainzeal, was at Parliament on Thursday for the financial review of Genesis Energy, the state-owned power company she chairs.

Labour Party MP Clayton Cosgrove said there may be questions about Dame Jenny, given that neither she nor Mainzeal have explained what went wrong.

Dame Jenny refused to answer any questions in response, saying only that she will discuss Mainzeal at the appropriate time.
