Parata corrects answer to Parliament

Education Minister Hekia Parata has corrected an answer she gave to Parliament about the resignation of Education Secretary Lesley Longstone.

Mrs Longstone quit at the end of the last year and tensions between her and the minister were cited as one of the reasons for her departure.

During Question Time on Tuesday Ms Parata said she had not been consulted by State Services Commissioner Iain Rennie before he accepted Mrs Longstone's resignation.

Just before the House rose, Ms Parata told Parliament that while she was not consulted at the final stage of the Commissioner's decision to accept the resignation, she had been involved in earlier discussions.
