Japan accepts TPP deals made so far - Groser

Trade Minister Tim Groser says Japan's late entry into the Trans-Pacific Partnership talks does not mean reopening negotiations that have already been agreed upon.

Japan signalled its interest in joining the TPP negotiations last month, and yesterday was welcomed into the talks with the 11 other Pacific Rim countries.

Tim Groser said the negotiations completed up to this point would remain in place, and Japan had accepted that.

He said New Zealand had made it clear there would not be any exclusions for agricultural products.

The member countries which include the United States and Australia hope to conclude the trade deal later this year.
