Radio New Zealand has told MPs that its employees are not complaining about their salaries, despite the organisation having had frozen funding for half a decade.
However, the state broadcaster also told Parliament's Commerce select committee on Thursday that its board is concerned about the impacts of the budget freeze on staff.
After recent informal talks with staff, Radio New Zealand's chair Richard Griffin said morale was deemed to be excellent.
However, he also sounded a note of caution about the lingering effects of a frozen budget.
Mr Griffin said Radio New Zealand is working as well as it has ever done in 18 years because of fiscal discipline and creative intelligence.
