NZ PM to visit Solomon Islands and Sth Korea

11:35 am on 19 July 2013

The Prime Minister is travelling to the Solomon Islands and South Korea next week.

John Key will lead a delegation to Honiara next Wednesday to mark ten years since the Regional Assistance Mission was deployed to the Solomons.

New Zealand and Australian troops and police officers were deployed in 2003 following civil disorder between ethnic groups, but are gradually being withdrawn as Solomon Islands forces start taking over operations.

Mr Key will then travel to South Korea to join New Zealand veterans in commemorations marking the 60th anniversary of the armistice that ended the Korean War.
