Govt has no single criteria for helping firms

In a response to an Official Information Act request, the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment said it had not provided a single set of criteria for ministers to use.

Economic Development Minister Steven Joyce makes no apology for that and says decisions are taken one at a time.

But Labour Party leader David Cunliffe says it's clear the Government has no strategic approach and just helps its friends.

Green Party co-leader Russel Norman says the Government is negligent for having no criteria for handing out tens of millions of dollars of taxpayers' money.
