The MP for Christchurch Central has announced she plans to seek re-election this year, despite previously saying that boundary changes will make the seat unwinnable.

National's Nicky Wagner is in her third term as the electorate's MP.

She says the issues in Christchurch are complex and the city needs spokespeople who have lived through the earthquakes and the daily challenges they have created.

Mrs Wagner says she will put her name forward for nomination for the seat ahead of electoral boundary change confirmations due in mid-April.

She won the electorate by just 47 votes in the 2008 election.
