Philippines scheme for young NZers

9:55 pm on 31 January 2014

One hundred young New Zealanders will from February be able to spend a year working, studying and holidaying in the Philippines.

The working holiday scheme is for those aged 18 to 30 and will be reciprocal for Filipinos of the same age.

Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully said on Friday it was an excellent opportunity for younger New Zealanders to experience another culture.

The 37,000-strong Filipino community in New Zealand was the largest of the East Asian communities here.

Applications for the programme open on 5 February.
