Internet Party seeks political status

Kim Dotcom's the Internet Party has applied to register as a political party with the Electoral Commission.

The party's chief executive, Vikram Kumar, said on Monday more than 2000 members have signed up and confirmation of its registration is expected to take four to six weeks.

Mr Kumar said the party has applied for a broadcasting allocation and provided a submission outlining its request.
