The Government has agreed in principle to establish an entity which will facilitate the transfer of Housing New Zealand homes to community housing agencies.
It will work with them to better meet demand.
Funding was included in the Budget, and a case will be developed over the next six months by officials from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment and the Treasury, working with Housing New Zealand.
The Government says the move is another step in growing the social housing sector.
