The former head of the Sensible Sentencing Trust, Garth McVicar, has made it to number three on the Conservative Party list.
The party today revealed its top five party candidates for the general election on 20 September.
Leader Colin Craig is No 1, while former Work and Income chief executive Christine Rankin is second and also standing in the Epsom electorate.
Mr McVicar, who stepped down recently from trust, is contesting the Napier seat.
Radio New Zealand's most recent average of opinion polls shows the party at 2.4 percent.
