The National Party says if re-elected to government, it would establish a $150 million fund to extend rural broadband.
Party leader John Key and communications and IT spokesperson, Amy Adams, made the announcement in Greymouth today.
Ms Adams said 250,000 households already had access to faster broadband through the Government's Rural Broadband Initiative.
She said $100 million would be placed in a contestable fund for communities to improve connectivity.
Another $50 million would be used to extend mobile phone coverage in remote parts of New Zealand.
