National concern at Sky City deal overturn

10:36 am on 20 March 2015

National has been phoning its partners to ensure that if Winston Peters wins the Northland by-election it will still have enough support to defeat an attempt to overturn its Sky City convention centre deal.

A New Zealand First MP's bill to repeal the controversial leglislation that allowed the deal has been drawn from the ballot.

If Mr Peters wins in Northland, National would be vulnerable because it would have to rely on Act to stop the bill passing.

Act's MP David Seymour said he did not like the deal.

But National campaign manager Stephen Joyce said he phoned Mr Seymour last night and Mr Seymour assured him he would support National as part of their partnership agreement.
