The Foreign Minister Murray McCully is travelling to China this weekend for meetings in Beijing and Guangzhou.
In Beijing he will meet the Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, to discuss regional co-operation, trade and economic matters.
Mr McCully said in Guangzhou he would open the new offices of the New Zealand Consulate General, which will also house Trade and Enterprise, immigration, tourism, education and the police.
He said it reflected the Government's long-term commitment to southern China.
