Govt agencies need to work together - English

12:54 pm on 27 August 2015

Government agencies need to arrange themselves around families, not the other way around, the Housing New Zealand minister says.

Bill English has opened 11 new state homes at a site in Glen Innes in Auckland today.

The 11 houses - which are a mix of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes - are on a site that used to have just two state houses on it.

Mr English said the new houses had double-glazing, insulation, thermal curtains and energy-efficient appliances.

The site is not far from the state house that Te Ao Marama Wensor had to move out of because of the rot and mould that had given her son serious lung problems.

Mr English said situations like Ms Wensor's were arising because government agencies were not sharing information with each other, or not acting quickly enough on the information they do have.
