NZ First to discuss 'awful' election campaign

9:08 pm on 13 February 2009

New Zealand First party members and former MPs meet in Auckland on Saturday to discuss the party's future.

Deputy leader Peter Brown says the party needs a new strategy after what he says was an awful election campaign last year.

Mr Brown says the party should have acknowledged the mistakes it made over political donations last year.

He says party members need to identify why New Zealand First failed to win enough support to return to Parliament, and consider a new strategy.

Mr Brown believes Winston Peters should stay on as the party's leader and says it is possible the party could make it back into Parliament in 2011.
