Ex-weatherman Coffey confirmed for Labour seat bid

Former weather presenter and television host Tamati Coffey has been selected to run for Labour in the Māori seat of Waiariki in next year's general election.

That seat is currently held by Māori Party co-leader Te Ururoa Flavell.

Mr Coffey stood unsuccessfully for Labour in Rotorua in 2014.

He was a roving weather reporter for TVNZ's Breakfast programme, and has also hosted entertainment shows Dancing with the Stars and New Zealand's Got Talent.
