The Government's Accident Compensation Corporation amendment legislation has passed its first reading in Parliament.

The Injury Prevention, Rehabilitation and Compensation Amendment Bill contains cuts to a range of entitlements and pushes out the deadline for fully funding ACC to 2019.

The bill passed by 69 votes to 53 on Tuesday, with Labour, the Green Party and the Progressive Party voting against it.

The legislation will now be considered by the Transport and Industrial Relations select committee.
