Hui on foreshore to be held by Maori Party

10:55 am on 26 February 2010

The Maori Party is to hold 20 hui during the next four weeks to gather views on the foreshore and seabed.

The hui will consider the next steps if the Foreshore and Seabed Act is repealed and what could replace it.

Three MPs, Rahui Katene, Hone Harawira and Te Ururoa Flavell, will be attending the hui.

Mrs Katene says repealing the act is its number one priority and the party is determined to try every approach it can to make that happen.

She says a report will be developed from the hui which will be presented to the Maori Party caucus.
