Prime Minister John Key leaves on Wednesday for a 10-day trip to North America.
Mr Key will attend a nuclear security summit in Washington, DC, which is being hosted by United States President Barack Obama.
Mr Key says the summit will be attended by 46 world leaders who will be trying to make sure nuclear weapons become obsolete.
After the Washington summit, Mr Key will go to Canada for a meeting with Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
