Govt seeks feedback on Telecom separation

9:47 am on 15 September 2010

The Government wants to hear from the telecommunications industry and the public on any issues that may arise if Telecom is to structurally separate.

Telecom recently said it's considering structural separation of its network and retail businesses because of the Government's broadband plan.

Crown Fibre Holdings has announced Telecom is one of the 14 parties short-listed for the broadband roll-out.

Communications Minister Steven Joyce says a structural separation of Telecom would be a major change to the telecommunications industry.

And he says it would impact on key elements of the regulatory regime governing the industry.

Submissions close on 15 October.
