Chris Carter faces Labour's ruling council

7:38 am on 11 October 2010

Labour Party president Andrew Little says Chris Carter's continued criticisms of the party's leader won't do him any favours when the MP appears before the party's ruling council Monday.

Mr Carter was expelled from the parliamentary caucus and has become an independent MP for Te Atatu.

He has consistently criticised Phil Goff, saying the party cannot win next year's election with him as leader.

The ruling council will on Monday consider disciplinary action, including suspension or expulsion from the party.

Party president Andrew Little says Mr Carter's continued comments about Mr Goff may lead council members to question whether he will be a reliable party member in the future.
