Govt concerned about port not operating

11:12 am on 3 March 2012

Prime Minister John Key says the Government is concerned about the costs for businesses affected by the Ports of Auckland strike.

More than 300 members of the Maritime Union are on a four week strike after months of stoppages over proposed changes to a new collective contract.

Mediation on Friday again ended in a stalemate.

Mr Key says the Government would like to see the two sides compromise and resolve the dispute as soon as possible.
