A man waving a fake gun out of a car window led to a full armed police response on Auckland's North Shore this morning.
Police said front-line officers, several dog units, and the Eagle helicopter responded to a call from a member of the public who had seen a man waving a pistol from the car in Albany.
Police tracked the car to a rural address where armed officers surrounded the house.
They said a man came out with his hands up and five "disturbingly realistic" firearms were found there.
An 18-year-old man was arrested.
