A truck has collided with another vehicle on the Whangamoa Saddle stretch of State Highway 6 in Nelson.
Police said the head-on crash happened before 4.15am this morning.
They said the highway, near Hira, was closed while the truck was being lifted off the road.
St John Ambulance said one person had been taken to Nelson Hospital with minor injuries.
