Police and helicopter rescue crews in Auckland have ended an extensive search prompted by the discovery of an upturned dinghy in the Rangitoto Channel.
The green plastic dinghy was found about midday yesterday, but nobody who may have been in the boat had been found.
Police launch Deodar 3, a police helicopter and the Auckland Westpac rescue helicopter and coastguard vessels have been involved in the search.
Police say no one has been found and there are no reports yet of people missing.
They are now trying to find out who owns the dinghy to confirm that no one was in it.
The dinghy has a grey plastic seat and is fitted with a small Yamaha outboard with a white cover.
