Police in Waikato are searching for a prisoner who escaped the Hamilton Court cells this morning.
Senior Sergeant Rupert Friend said there was a warrant for the arrest of Michael Campbell, 33.
He said anyone found to be helping him escape could face criminal charges themselves.
Mr Friend said an investigation had been launched into how he managed to escape.
Prisoner who escaped in Whanganui found
A prisoner who escaped from Whanganui Hospital just over two weeks ago has been found.
Kenneth John Burns, 34, was captured in Eltham, in Taranaki this afternoon, after a tip-off from a member of the public.
He is being returned to prison.
