A man has been arrested and charged with indecently assaulting a 12 year old girl in Dunedin on New Year's Day.
Police said the assault happened on the walkway between Burgess Street and Shand Street.
The arrested man will appear in the Dunedin District Court tomorrow.
Police were still looking for a man who consoled the girl and her eight-year-old companion after the assault, and left them in the care of staff at a local store, who called police.
Meanwhile, police in Invercargill want the public's help to identify a man who committed an indecent act at Elizabeth Park on John Street, on the evening of Thursday 18 December.
They said the man is Maori or a Pacific Islander, of solid build, and was wearing a blue hoodie and black and red shorts.
