A one-year-old girl sent to Christchurch hospital with serious head injuries has died.
Police said the baby girl was taken to hospital on Tuesday night by her regular baby-sitter with help from her neighbour, and died just before 8.30pm with her parents at her bedside.
Detective Senior Sergeant, Scott Anderson said police and Victim Support were working with the parents who are very upset with the death of their daughter.
Mr Anderson said scene examinations at a Worcester Street address, and possibly other addresses in Christchurch would be completed today.
A homicide investigation was being carried out by police.
