KiwiRail in Wellington says the Eastern Hutt Road remains partially closed to traffic after yesterday's truck crash on the Silverstream rail bridge, and motorists should expect delays.
The rail line has reopened this afternoon for commuter services following temporary repairs.
KiwiRail said only one lane of the Eastern Hutt Road was open and motorists should take alternative routes where possible.
It said lane restrictions were expected to stay in place until full repairs were completed.
It said there was no timeframe for completion of the work but it and the Hutt City Council would be issuing progress updates as well as information about delays.
