Police scale back search for diver

2:23 pm on 12 January 2015

Police have scaled back their search for a diver missing in the Far North.

On Thursday, police received a report that 25-year-old Rangi Tapu had not returned from snorkelling off rocks on the eastern end of Cable Bay.

The Auckland man's catch bag had washed ashore.

Coastguard, police, a plane, search and rescue staff, along with the police dive squad, and family members, have all been involved in the search at times, but there has been no sign of Mr Tapu.
