Police say a 21-year farm worker was arrested early this morning at a Southland farm on a charge of threatening to kill with a firearm.
It follows an incident at the Kaiwera farm, near Gore, late last night in which police said threats were made by the man to the farm owner and officers.
Police from Clinton and Balclutha supported by the Dunedin Armed Offenders Squad took the man, who lives on the farm, into custody.
Several firearms including a shotgun and a high-powered rifle were seized.
The man will appear in the Dunedin District Court this morning.
