Police today released the name of a man whose body was pulled from the Whanganui River yesterday.
He was 24-year old Jayden Tilby.
Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Phil Taylor said preliminary post mortem results suggested Mr Tilby drowned in the river, and his death was being treated as unexplained.
Mr Tilby was last seen at about 9am on Saturday, and police wanted to speak to anyone who saw him after that or noticed a canoe floating in the river that morning.
