An arrest has been made in connection to a fatal shooting of a man outside a south Hamilton home.
Michael James Thompson, 29, died in hospital on Friday after being shot at close range outside a property in the suburb of Melville.
The Police in Hamilton said the arrest came about as a result of information received from the community police.
Detective Inspector Karl Thornton said the Armed Offenders Squad searched three addresses in Te Rapa and Nawton this evening.
"As a result of a search conducted at an Ellicott Rd address one 17-year-old male was arrested and is currently being interviewed by detectives," he said.
The Police were warning Tyson-Tainui Rukuwai Te Tomo, who was also 17, was still at large and should not be approached.
They said Mr Rukuwai Te Tomo has a distinctive Mongrel Mob tattoo on the left cheek on his face.
They believed he had access to firearms.
