8:05 pm on 25 February 2015

A teenager charged with fatally stabbing a promising young rugby league player outside a Grey Lynn party will remain in prison until his trial in August.

Vincent Angene Skeen, 17, applied for bail at the High Court in Auckland yesterday.

Today Justice Heath released his decision, declining bail.

The legal arguments made by the Crown lawyer Brian Dickey and Mr Skeen's lawyer Lorraine Smith have been suppressed.

The media have also been prevented from reporting Justice Heath's reasons.

Mr Skeen is charged with the murder of Luke Tipene, who played for the Kiwis under-16 side.

He is due to face trial in August.
