The police are appealing for witnesses after the discovery of a man with serious head injuries in a Christchurch park early this morning.
The man, 43, was found semi-conscious in Momorangi Reserve in the suburb of Redwood by a member of the public about 2am.
Police described him as medium height and build with short dark hair and was wearing dark colored trousers and t-shirt.
Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Ford said it was unclear how he was injured and they would like to talk to anyone who saw the man in the Redwood area.
Mr Ford said the police had not spoken to the man, who was critically ill in Christchurch Hospital's intensive care unit.
