The 26-year-old was last seen in Golden Bay last Saturday morning.

He said he was going for a walk on the Hilltop Track and was last seen on Pillar Point track, between Wharariki and Puponga.

The Navy vessel Hawea joined the search on Thursday, covering an area from Farewell Spit to southwest of Wharariki Beach.

At the time the search co-ordinator said Mr Boogers would have spent the past five nights in the open, and the chances of surviving that were not good.

Despite the official search being on hold Mr Boogers' parents and members of the Golden Bay community, along with local police, will be back searching again today for some trace of the missing man.
