Crash victim not wearing seatbelt

The police in Waikato say a man who died after crashing his car into a tree may have survived had he been wearing a seatbelt.

The 24-year-old Hamilton man, Royal Grayson Beazley, died in an ambulance shortly after the police found his car in Ngaruawahia.

Inspector Freda Grace said it appeared it was a low-speed collision, and Mr Beazley may have lived, had he worn a seatbelt.

She said this happened a day after a similar crash in Hamilton, when an elderly man crashed his car into a tree after a medical episode.

Ms Grace said the elderly man was saved by people at the scene, who got him out of the car and gave him CPR until the police arrived.
