Search operation scuppered by storms

3:06 pm on 21 April 2015

Bad weather and tough terrain is hampering the search for a hunter missing since Sunday night in South Canterbury, today.

Murray Edge, 63, has been missing since 8.30pm on Sunday after he became separated from a friend he was hunting with.

Local farmers joined Canterbury police and search and rescue teams today, searching the upper reaches of the Tengawai River south of Fairlie.

An aerial search yesterday failed to find any trace of Mr Edge.

Canterbury rural police commander Dave Gaskin said about 60 people were searching but bad weather was slowing them down.
