Police in Auckland say they had to ram a stolen car to stop it after its driver sped the wrong way along the Southern Motorway.
They said that at 3.25am they saw the Subaru enter the motorway at Khyber Pass.
They tried to stop it but the driver left the motorway at Market Road before driving south in the northbound lanes.
Police said he then did a u-turn and began driving on the right side of the motorway, before exiting, and then heading the wrong way around a roundabout.
The driver tried to get back on to the motorway but was rammed into bushes by a police car.
The driver was arrested and a passenger fled but was caught a short time later.
Police said it was the third of a series of similiar incidents in Auckland this month.
