A censured Dunedin city councillor says he will not comply with suspension from committee
meetings because he has been advised the suspension is illegal.
The council is poised to suspend Lee Vandervis from voting at committee meetings for two months.
It said he breached its code of conduct by misleading a committee with comments about the council's Citifleet vehicle scandal.
Mr Vandervis said he was an elected representative with a job to do, which was to attend committees and vote on resolutions.
He said he did not believe the council can stop him from voting, because his legal advice was that the council's complaints process was flawed.
