The death of a person found in a burnt out car on the Whangamoa Saddle near Nelson is not suspicious, police say.
The wreck was spotted down a bank off State Highway 6 on Sunday afternoon.
Police say they are confident they know the identity of the person, however forensic testing is required to confirm it.
The matter has been referred to the Coroner.
