A permanent health centre for Pasifika people in Christchurch is being reopened today, more than four years after the February 2011 earthquake destroyed its Worcester St building.

The Pacific Health Clinic has been operating since then on a temporary site in Montreal Street.

Today, with help from the Ministry of Health and the Canterbury District Health Board, its new building - also in Montreal St - is being opened.

The chief executive of Pacific Trust Canterbury, Tony Fakahau, said it would address issues facing the growing Pacific community in Christchurch.
