Walkway ban over bullish beast

A stray bull has forced the closure of a popular reserve and walkway in Hawke's Bay, as it could be a danger to visitors.

Department of Conservation spokesman Dave Carlton said the bull had been wandering in the Monckton's Scenic Reserve.

A farmer tried to confine the bull but had been unable to do so and the area would remain closed until the animal was caught.

In the meantime, the process for trespassing illegal stock, which would allow the department to deal with the bull if no one claimed it, had started.
