Police are investigating the death of 15-month old Greymouth boy, Leith Hutchison, who died near the end of last month in Starship Hospital in Auckland.
Detective Senior Sergeant Dan Keno said the boy's parents were among the people officers have spoken to over the death and inquiries were continuing.
Mr Keno said the results of the post-mortem were not expected for several weeks, as some of the testing and analysis had to be done overseas.
He said anyone with more information should contact Greymouth police.
