Police have released more details about a serious crash on State Highway 2 near Te Puke, which claimed the life of a 36-year-old woman.
The fatality is the first of the Queen's Birthday weekend.
Police said it appeared the woman was trying to do a U-turn when her vehicle collided with a truck. They said the driver of the truck was unharmed.
Serious crash investigators have been at the scene today, and inquiries into the cause of the crash are continuing.
Police are also seeking witnesses to the crash.
They said the woman would not be named until her next of kin had been advised.
