An elderly woman in west Auckland has been left with fractures to her face after a late night attack in her Glen Eden home.
Police said neighbours saw a man loitering in the 73-year old woman's driveway about 11pm yesterday.
They said a shortly afterwards the neighbours went to check on her and saw her being attacked.
The man was chased off and was found a short time later by a police dog.
A 23-year old man has been charged with aggravated assault and burglary, and will appear in Waitakere District Court today.
