Christine Fairweather, who was 57, was hit by an oncoming car after stopping to remove metal fencing frames that had been placed across State Highway 3.

The driver was sentenced in January.

The other three men, aged 20, 18 and 17, appeared in the Hawera Youth Court earlier today jointly charged with Ms Fairweather's manslaughter.

Judge Sygrove granted the trio bail and remanded them to reappear in the High Court in New Plymouth on 3 July.

In a statement, the family of Ms Fairweather said the developments in the inquiry have given them some relief.
